The Nigeria Police Force has rearrested popular social media influencer and blogger Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.

His lawyer, Mr. Deji Adeyanju, disclosed on Sunday that his client was arrested for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad.

In a post on his X account, Adeyanju stated, “Our client, @thatverydarkman has just been arrested by the police on the instruction of CP Igwe for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad. Instead of the police to arrest the person alleged to have duped someone, they arrested VDM on allegation of defamation.”

It was revealed that the arrest was ordered by Mr. Benneth Igwe, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.

Previously, VeryDarkMan was arraigned on five counts of cyberstalking on Wednesday, May 22. He was then granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, June 10, 2024, and was released from police custody after meeting his bail conditions.

VeryDarkMan has also been recently embroiled in public feuds with actress Iyabo Ojo and nightlife billionaire Obi Cubana.
The feud with Iyabo Ojo began when VeryDarkMan accused her of gate-crashing Davido and Chioma’s wedding. Ojo’s lover, Paul Okoye, responded by blasting VeryDarkMan and warning him about the actress.

In response to the Iyabo Ojo situation, Obi Cubana took to social media to call VeryDarkMan a “small, disrespectful boy” whom bloggers were enabling.

VeryDarkMan then fired back, slamming Obi Cubana as a “show-off” who is less wealthy than he portrays himself to be.

VeryDarkMan accused Obi Cubana of never doing anything tangible for Nigerian youths, and alleged that the only thing he has done is provide easy access to alcohol.

He also claimed that there are wealthier Hausa/Fulani men in the north who do not worship money like Obi Cubana.

With the arrest of VeryDarkMan, there will be an indefinite break in the back-and-forth online onslaught.
