US-based Nigerian doctor killed by drunk driver
Tragedy struck the Nigerian community in the United States as a 32-year-old ophthalmologist, Uzochukwu Igboanugo, lost his life in a fatal car accident caused by a drunk driver.
Uzochukwu’s father, Ikb Igboanugo, took to Facebook to share the heartbreaking news, revealing that his son was killed in a horrific collision allegedly caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol.
He described the incident as devastating, expressing his profound grief and anguish over the loss of his son.
The grieving father recounted the circumstances of the accident, stating, “An accident victim of a drunkard, who fell asleep while speeding on the highway, jumped his lane opposite direction and hit with speed force on the driver’s side door where my son was as he was driving home after work.”
Despite his sorrow, Ikb Igboanugo reflected on his son’s life with fondness, describing Uzochukwu as a remarkable individual who excelled in his medical career. He highlighted Uzochukwu’s dedication and achievements, emphasizing his intelligence, kindness, and sociability.
Expressing the immense pain of losing a child, Ikb Igboanugo urged other parents to cherish their children and pray for their safety. He also emphasized the psychological toll that the loss has taken on him and his wife, urging compassion and empathy for those who have experienced similar tragedies.
As he mourned the untimely passing of his son, Ikb Igboanugo found solace in the belief that Uzochukwu is now in God’s embrace, serving a higher purpose. He concluded his message with a heartfelt prayer for his son’s soul to rest in peace.
