At least seven people were killed in a bandit attack on Mai Dabino village in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State on Saturday night.
An eyewitness reported that the attack began around 10:00 pm and lasted for about three hours. The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the village, shooting to scare the residents. They also abducted an unspecified number of people, mostly women and children, and took them to a nearby forest.
The eyewitness told Channels Television on Sunday that the bandits killed seven people and set their bodies on fire. They also burned down several houses, shops, and vehicles, causing damage worth millions of Naira.
The Police Spokesman in the state, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident. In a text message to our correspondent, he said, “Yesterday, June 22, 2024, at about 2000 hrs, armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically, attacked Mai Dabino village, Danmusa LGA, where they shot and killed about seven (7) persons. Investigation is currently ongoing, and further developments will be communicated in due course.”
