Police nab 24-year-old impersonating Kaduna gov
The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 24-year-old individual, Destiny Paul, for allegedly impersonating the Kaduna State Government and engaging in fraudulent activities targeting unsuspecting members of the public.
The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, revealed this development on Monday in Benin City, stating that the arrest was made by the operatives of the anti-kidnapping and cybercrime unit of the Command.
The arrest followed a petition received from the Force Headquarters.
Nwabuzor shared that the suspect was taken into custody through technical intelligence along the Ubiaja-Uromi road in Edo State. The petition had alerted the authorities to a fraudster in Edo State posing as the Kaduna State Government to defraud people.
“The suspect confessed to using the Kaduna State Government profile to defraud people,” said Nwabuzor.
He further explained that the investigative team from Kaduna, in collaboration with officers from Force Headquarters, had been contacted and is en route to Edo State to proceed with the inquiry.
The suspect, Destiny Paul, is slated to be handed over to the team from Abuja for further investigation.
