Police arrest Portable over unpaid 14m G-Wagon debt
Popular musician, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for failing to pay the debt he owed after purchasing a G-Wagon from a car dealer in the state.
Portable allegedly bought the luxury vehicle valued at N27 million but only paid N13 million, leaving a balance of N14 million unpaid. Despite repeated attempts by the car dealer to collect the outstanding payment, Portable reportedly claimed that the vehicle was defective.
The car dealer eventually reported the matter to the police, leading to Portable’s arrest by officers assigned to investigate the case.
Confirming the arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”
