Passengers stranded as Abuja-bound train derails in Kaduna
An Abuja-bound train derailed on Sunday morning along the Abuja-Kaduna route, leaving passengers stranded in the Jere area of Kaduna State.
Senator Shehu Sani, who once represented Kaduna North in the Senate, shared the news on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account. He posted, “A minor Abuja-Kaduna morning train derail near Jere but engineers are attending to it.”
While the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has not yet released an official statement, it is expected that the problem will be quickly fixed.
This incident comes almost a year after another derailment on the same route, which was also reported by Senator Sani. He urged the NRC to ensure the safety and security of the stranded passengers. Senator Sani wrote, “Kaduna Abuja Train derails; NRC please ensure the security and safety of the stranded passengers.”
Passengers are currently awaiting assistance as engineers work to resolve the issue and get the train back on track.
