Osun: Congratulate Adeleke now, Davido urges Oyetola
Popular singer-songwriter, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has urged the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, to congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governor-elect of the state.
Punch Metro reported that the ‘A Better Time’ singer’s uncle, Senator Adeleke, defeated Oyetola at Osun’s governorship election which held in July after a second attempt at the governorship seat following a controversial loss to the incumbent governor in 2018.
In a statement on Twitter, the ‘Stand Strong’ crooner reminded Oyetola how his uncle sent him a congratulatory message after the controversial loss in the 2018 Osun election.
“Your excellency sir, @GboyegaOyetola, when will you congratulate the incoming governor of your state, @AAdeleke_01?” Davido wrote in a tweet on Saturday.
“In 2018, my uncle congratulated you even though it was stolen. Do the right thing baba, one love,” he tweeted on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Oyetola has contested the results, asking an Election Petition Tribunal in Osogbo to nullify the polls.
In his petition, the Governor argued that the election was fraught with irregularities.
He also said that Adeleke ought not to have been declared winner, as he was not qualified to have contested the election in the first place, having submitted a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
