Ondo govt seals Shoprite, NEPA market
Popular shopping mall, Shoprite, and the Neighborhood market at NEPA in Akure, the Ondo State capital, have been shut by the government.
This was disclosed by the General Manager of Ondo State Waste Management Authority, Mrs Ayo Adeyemo, Monday morning.
Shoprite’s building which is located at Igbatoro Road in Akure and the market were closed over unsanitary and unhygienic practices, which were a violation of the environmental laws.
Adeyemo said, “The owners of the affected facilities violated environmental laws and failed to comply with the laid down hygienic practices.”
THIS DAY reports that at least five popular malls in Akure have been shut by the ODSWMA within the last two weeks.
The agency clamped down on NAO Supermarkets; Olukayode building; Arowolo Bookshop, all on Oba Adesida Road, for failing to comply with hygienic practices.
Other affected buildings include Rainbow Furniture at Bye-pass junction and Salon Mega store along Isikan/Cathedral area.
