NDLEA arraigns 29-year-old man for drug trafficking
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency arraigned a 29-year-old man, Michael Ishola, on Tuesday before a Federal High Court in Lagos on charges of drug trafficking.
Ishola faces a two-count charge for illegal dealing in 500 grams of cannabis and 0.9 liters of codeine.
NDLEA Prosecutor, Ms. N.J. Erondu, stated that Ishola committed the offences on May 7 in the Mushin area of Lagos. “He was found in possession of 500 grams of cannabis and 0.9 liters of codeine, which is unlawful,” Erondu said.
She explained that these substances are classified as psychotropic, similar to cocaine and heroin. The charges against Ishola contravene Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
No date has been fixed yet for the arraignment of the suspect.
