The management of Lead British International School, Abuja, has expressed its condemnation of a recent incident of bullying that occurred within its premises.
The incident came to light after a user on social media sought justice for a female student allegedly bullied by her classmates.

In an SOS post shared on Monday night by an X user, @mooyeeeeeee, along with two videos, the distressing situation was brought to public attention. The videos depicted the victim being subjected to physical and verbal abuse by fellow students.

Responding to the outcry, Abraham Ogunkambi, the Head of Abuja School, issued a statement on Tuesday, reassuring the public that the school is treating the matter with utmost seriousness.

He affirmed that the school has already reached out to the victim and her parents to provide necessary support and counseling services to address the emotional and psychological impact of the incident.

Furthermore, Ogunkambi stated that the school is taking proactive measures to address the issue, including offering counseling services to both the victim and the perpetrators and implementing disciplinary measures to address the behavior of those involved.

“We are deeply concerned about the well-being of our students and are committed to ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all,” said Ogunkambi.

Additionally, the school head disclosed that a panel has been constituted to investigate the matter thoroughly, along with other allegations of bullying within the school.

However, concerns remain among some members of the school community, as highlighted by another X user, @sadiqGsadiq, who shared a screenshot alleging a history of inadequate response to bullying incidents.

The screenshot detailed another troubling incident where a student reportedly cut a classmate with a knife, resulting in only a two-day suspension as punishment.

“Bullying is one of the biggest issue in Lead British international school.

“And the worst thing is that they don’t even take serious actions for it. The punishment they use is always packing of trash like…does that make sense? Will packing of trash stop me from bullying someone?it does not even make sense, to be honest.

“The school is always trying to hide things like this. When things like this happen and we tell our parents, our parents think we are being dramatic and stuff that’s why we all need you to put back the post and bring awareness cuz it needs to stop.

“Let me tell you something, worst things have happened. There was a time a girl brought a knife or a paper cutter and used it to slice a boy’s hand. The boy was in Year 7. He had to get stitches and the girl’s punishment was two days suspension cuz allegedly her parents paid the school or something,” the screenshot read.
