Imo ex-gov Ihedioha pays visit to Otti

Former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, recently paid a visit to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, the sole governor elected under the Labour Party’s banner.

In a post shared on X, Ihedioha expressed his delight at meeting Governor Otti at his residence in Isialangwa, Abia State. The former governor praised Otti’s achievements in Abia State, highlighting their cordial discussion during the visit.

“We had a convivial discussion, even as I commend his giant strides in Abia State,” Ihedioha wrote.

The visit comes shortly after Ihedioha’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In his resignation letter addressed to the PDP chairman in Mbutu Ward, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Ihedioha cited a misalignment between his personal beliefs and the current trajectory of the party.

Having been a member of the PDP since its inception in 1998, Ihedioha expressed disappointment over the party’s recent developments, stating concerns about its inability to enact internal reforms and effectively oppose the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Regrettably, in recent times, the party has taken on a path that is at variance with my personal beliefs. Despite my attempt to offer counsel, the party is, sadly, no longer able to carry out internal reforms, enforce its own rules, or offer credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress,” Ihedioha lamented in his resignation letter.

Despite his resignation from the PDP, Ihedioha reaffirmed his commitment to advancing democracy and good governance in Nigeria. He pledged to remain available to contribute towards the country’s development despite his departure from the party.
