I regret singing ‘READY’ – Adekunle Gold
Popular Nigerian Musician Adekunle Kosoko, also known as Adekunle Gold or AG Baby, has said he regrets writing his song ‘READY’.
The Sade crooner made this statement while responding to a question from a fan on X with username MOMO ( formerly Twitter) who said, “ Is any song you regret writing?
In response to her, Adekunle Gold said, “Lmao! Ha! Ok, let me finally say it. “READY” I wanted to replicate the success of “PICK UP,” so I made the exact sound, just a different story, and till today, it haunts me. In fact, I don’t perform it for that reason. 😭 So when you people say give us songs like so so so, I laugh because I will never be able to do that. Just let me make my art how I know it. My songs are one of one, and I’m grateful I can make timeless songs.”
His confession has so far generated reactions from fans.
An X user, Obong Roviel, writing @Roviel, said, “This song??????? Adekunle, don’t vex me this morning, oooo.”
Still expressing their thoughts, Abisola E. BABATOPE RHIM wrote, “Ready is sweet sha, na you know wetin you dey talk.”
Another X user, Eniturn tweeting @Eniturn, wrote, “Ready wey dem use sleep with me? Please behave yourself, Kunle.”
Omokehinde, with username @onokehinde_, said, “No “Ready” Slander will be allowed here. What are you saying?😂😂😂 no vex me abeg.”
The video ‘READY’ garnered a view of 2.2million views on YouTube when it was produced eight years ago.
AG Baby, as fans fondly called him, came to the limelight when he released the 2015 hit single “Sade,” a highlife cover of One Direction’s “Story of My Life.”
The singer yesterday celebrated one of his albums, “About 30,” he launched six years ago.
