Father, son beat neighbour’s wife to death in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has reported the arrest of one Chizoke Obiadada, aged 54, and his 17-year-old son, Micheal, for allegedly beating their neighbour’s wife, Tope Owoade, to death.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement released to journalists on Saturday by the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, it was revealed that the suspects engaged the deceased in a physical altercation after she confronted them for sitting on a table used for selling cow skin, popularly known as “ponmo.”

The deceased’s husband, Isiaka Owoade, recounted the harrowing events, stating, “On March 29, 2024, when I returned from a journey, my late wife informed me that on the previous day, March 28, 2024, at about 2030hrs, one Chizoke Obiadada, 54 years old, and his son, Micheal Obiadada, 17 years old, our known neighbours, beat her up mercilessly, inflicting fatal injuries on her.”

He further explained that his wife bled profusely from severe wounds inflicted during the altercation and was rushed to two different hospitals but was tragically rejected. She succumbed to her injuries while being transported to a government hospital.

Upon receiving the report, the Ogijo Divisional Police Officer swiftly ordered the arrest of the suspects, who are currently undergoing preliminary investigations.

“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation,” stated Odutola.

Efforts are underway to deposit the deceased at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu morgue for post-mortem examination as the community grapples with the tragic loss of Tope Owoade.
