Eight suspects arrested over murder of Enugu traditional ruler

The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of eight suspects linked to the murder of Mr. Patrick Ezugwu, the traditional ruler of Akutara in Adani Autonomous Community, Uzo Uwani Council Area.

The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 9 pm when armed hoodlums attacked the traditional ruler.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, visited the community on Monday and expressed determination to ensure justice.

He stated, “Those found culpable will be prosecuted. The Governor of Enugu State said I should relocate to this local government and ensure that all those responsible for this unfortunate act are apprehended in line with the state’s zero tolerance for crime.”

Uzuegbu clarified that the purpose of his visit was to assess the situation as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.

He emphasized the severity of consequences for such acts and stated, “Because no incident like this should happen without severe consequences.”

The Commissioner of Police reassured the community that the state governor was deeply concerned about the incident and emphasized that the criminals would face the consequences of their actions.
