Eid-el-Kabir: Police vow 24-hour security in Ogun

Police to spend N4bn to fuel patrol vehicles



The Ogun State Police Command has promised to boost its presence at key points across the state during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to ensure the safety of residents.

The command will provide 24-hour patrols on major highways, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Kara Long Bridge, and Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode-Benin Expressway.

SP Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the state command, announced that police will conduct search and stop operations in various locations such as Onigarri, Long Bridge, Alapako, and Sango/Ijoko, among others.

“The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has put in place robust security measures to ensure nothing untoward happens during these festivities, which come with increased human and vehicular movements,” Odutola said.

She added, “Policemen have been briefed and drafted to critical flashpoint areas and will be visibly seen performing their duties. Members of the public will see officers conducting stop and search operations in locations like Onigarri, Odeda, Long Bridge, Alapako, Sango/Ijoko, and more.”

Odutola also mentioned that the highways would be patrolled 24/7 by a joint collaboration with other agencies in the state. “The Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode-Benin highway, and Kara long bridge will remain under surveillance by the Divisional Police Officers in their areas, supervised by their Area Commanders.”

She assured the public that both conventional and Mobile Policemen would be present at praying grounds and strategic locations to prevent criminal activities.

The police boss also urged the public to be mindful of their surroundings and protect their valuables. “People accessing point-of-sale locations, eateries, lounges, restaurants, and hotels are advised to be alert and cautious with their valuables to avoid falling victim to carelessness,” she advised.
