Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party primary election that chose Asue Ighodalo as its governorship candidate.
The primary election, held on February 22, 2024, was voided because 378 delegates who were supposed to vote were unlawfully excluded by the PDP.
Judge Ekwo invalidated the election while delivering judgment on a case filed by Hon Kelvin Mohammed.
Justice Ekwo stated that both the Electoral Act 2022 and the PDP Guidelines were grossly violated during the primary election at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
