Atiku was accompanied by former Sokoto State governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former PDP National Secretary Ibrahim Tsauri, party stakeholders, and his supporters.

Speaking with journalists in Katsina after the visit, Atiku said he visited the former president and the Emir of Daura to congratulate them on the successful celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir festival.

He said, “I paid the former president and the Emir of Daura a visit to congratulate them for the successful celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir festivity.”

Atiku, however, declined to comment on the leadership tussle within the PDP in Katsina State, stating that the people will decide who should lead them at the party’s congress.

Observers believe that the visit might be related to Atiku’s plans to start strategizing ahead of the 2027 election.

Atiku and his delegation also visited the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq Umar. After this, they returned to Katsina to pay a condolence visit to Alhaji Lawal Kaita and the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, over the death of the Emir’s son.
