Atalanta’s Gollini completes medical ahead of Tottenham loan move
Atalanta goalkeeper, Pierluigi Gollini has completed his medicals ahead of a potential loan move from the Serie A to Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old Italy international who had his medicals in Milan due to COVID-19 restrictions is on his way to London to sign his contract with the London club.
Sky Sports reports that the Atalanta goalkeeper is expected to sign a loan deal that could be extended to two years or become permanent for £13m which will become an obligation if he plays a certain number of games.
“I am very happy,” he said when interviewed at the airport en route to London. “It is very difficult to leave my second home. I thank Bergamo and the fans. I felt very loved and what we did will remain in history.
“I am grateful to Tottenham for this opportunity, I can’t wait to start. The possibility of staying in Italy was there, but Tottenham was the best opportunity.”
Gollini is expected to compete with French captain, Hugo Lloris, and former England international, Joe Hart, after Paulo Gazzaniga left the club at the end of his contract on June 30.
