Seven killed in fresh Niger attack
No fewer than seven people have been killed in a fresh attack on communities in Shiroro LGA of Niger State by bandits.
According to Daily Trust, it was reported that two of the victims, Kabiru Salihu and Abubakar Karaga were beheaded by the attackers suspected to be insurgents.
Among the villages attacked between Thursday and Friday were Lanta, Bassa, Kasimani, Unguwan-Madi and Makuda among others, where houses and domestic animals were reportedly set ablaze.
One of the sources who preferred anonymity due to security threats said “All in all, it was seven people that were killed by Boko Haram in Bassa.”
He said the humanitarian crisis at Erena camp had worsened as more villages got attacked on a daily basis.
However, the Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun was not available for comment as at the time of filing the report.
Recall that in May, bandits killed four security task force members and three villagers in a midnight attack in which no fewer than 200 locals were also abducted in Niger State.
