Olympics: Nigeria eyes gold as Oborududu enters wrestling final
Blessing Oborududu secured a place in the final of the Women’s freestyle 68kg, Wrestling, raising Nigeria’s hope for a gold medal at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Oborududu defeated Battsetseg Soronzonboldyn Mongolia 7-2 on Monday to make the final where she would wrestle for either the gold or silver medal.
Recall that the strong Nigerian breezed into the semi-final of the women’s wrestling event by defeating Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan in the quarterfinals.
The Nigerian wrestler made her way to the last eight by defeating Azerbaijani’s Elis Manolova 13-2 with an impressive display to overpower her counterpart.
